I'm no expert but these seem to be the legit item!
Extend the life and offset the high price by cutting the gel when the scent has begun to fade.
Increasing the surface area will help revive the scent!

As far as smell goes, I have never had anyone complain. I personally love the smell (think citrus, slightly bubble gum maybe, hard to describe really)and I have had about 80% or more people that ride in my car or get close enough (see drive-thru's, etc) make a comment on how great it smells. The only knock I have on these is the life span. 3 weeks seems to be about it. I love the unique smell enough to deal though.

With all the different car fresheners I've used this is the best smelling of them all.
It only last for 30 days I think it's pretty descent.
